How It Works
Rescue
Whenever possible, we use dogs rescued from local shelters to help address the problem of overpopulation.
Pairing
Our trainers work closely with the Veteran or First Responder to match them with the ideal canine for their specific needs. In some instances, a dog with whom they already have a strong connection may prove to be the perfect choice.
Training
Individuals accepted into our program will work with one of our highly qualified trainers until the trainer and program director determine that the team in training is ready to take all appropriate tests to become a certified service dog team.
Graduation
The Program Coordinator will set a date for a small, official graduation ceremony. A certificate for the new service dog team will be created, with a copy kept in the team’s file.
